IOR have been making telescopic sights in Romania for over 70 years and they are proud of the fact that they still produce all the parts in their own workshops and do not out-source them from China!

All lenses are made using the finest lens glass from the Shott Glasswerks in Germany and are ground and finished by IOR in their own optical workshops. IOR also have their own vacuum deposition chambers and anti-reflection coat all the lenses in the scope. IOR also photo-etch the reticules onto glass themselves.

IOR used to have a reputation of  being somewhat staid and old fashioned in the scope design, a legacy from the days when Romania was a Communist state within Eastern Europe. Their scopes were long and heavy compared to the modern competition from the West. This is no longer the case! IOR scope have been radically redesigned across the range, bringing them right up to date with the best scope designs from the West.

Their scopes are pretty rugged too. They are nitrogen filled and sealed to be waterproof and fogproof. They are also shockproof and the military versions of their scopes are squaddy proof!
